Have you ever wondered what it’s like to work for Rentokil, and what a typical day might looks like? Read on to follow in the footsteps of a Rentokil Service Supervisor.
You may be aware of Rentokil’s extensive network of more than 19,000 experienced and qualified Technicians operating in over 80 countries. This team of exceptional individuals are led by a team of highly motivated Service Supervisors that ensure we maintain world class service levels to our customers and overall optimisation of branch service performance whilst complying with all internal and external policy and legislative regulations.
Today we salute these Rentokil Heroes. We asked one of our Service Supervisors from Rentokil Pretoria, Francois Green, to talk to us about what his average day looks like.
Q: Tell us a little about yourself
A: I joined Rentokil on the 2nd of February 2015 as a technician in the Linbro Park (Johannesburg) branch. After 4 years with them I was promoted to Service Supervisor for the Pretoria branch.
My career aspirations are to upskill myself within Rentokil, to share my knowledge with my Technicians, and to leave a legacy. I wish to continue growing within the company and move up into more senior roles.
Q: Which zones have you looked after?
A: As a Technician I changed zones 3 times. I started off looking after Alexandra, Wynberg, Bramley and Highlands North. My second zone was Midrand, and then I moved to Randburg, Bryanston and Parkmore. In my current capacity as Supervisor, I look after Tshwane, Hartbeespoort, Brits, Fourways and surrounds.
Q: What does your typical day look like?
A: As I predominantly work in the second most congested city in South Africa I spend a lot of time in traffic in the mornings and afternoons. When I get to the office, I devote my morning to route planning and service efficiency and my afternoons to doing quality inspections and Technician infield support. I like to spend my lunch time with my colleagues to catch up and make jokes.
Q: What is your favourite thing about working for Rentokil Initial?
A: Rentokil Initial looks after their staff. We are always supplied with the vehicles, uniform and equipment we need to do our jobs properly.
Q: What do you love about our customers?
A: I love it when the client says that Rentokil is the only pest control company they trust.
Q: What do you enjoy most about working with your team of Technicians?
A: Each Technician has a different way of thinking and brings new insight to the job.
Q: What has been your most memorable call out?
A: When a distressed client phoned me I responded straight away, arriving on the premises within minutes. I addressed the rodent problem and the client emailed my manager afterwards, thanking them for the fast response and commitment.
Q: Are there any pests that you are afraid of?
A: I’m not really afraid of any pests. The only thing that gets to me is a spider. (I think that most people agree with Francois’ sentiment).
