In our latest blog post we interview a happy customer who used Rentokil to get rid of rodents in her house. Read her testimonial below.
In this blog post we interview Michelle from Johannesburg, Gauteng, about her recent experience with Rentokil. Michelle contacted Rentokil because she was sure she had a rodent problem at home.
Rentokil customer experience:
Q: Michelle, what prompted you to call Rentokil?
In August last year we had a cold snap in Jo’burg, and all of a sudden we started hearing – and seeing – a mouse scurrying around in the house. I thought it was the first time I’d had a mouse problem at home, but when your technician arrived, he showed me the evidence of old mouse activity in my garage as well. I don’t know how long they had been there for.
What are the signs of a rodent infestation?
Finding typical signs of mice, such as droppings, could indicate an active infestation in your home. Look out for:
- Mouse Droppings are small and dark and scattered randomly. Look for droppings particularly along walls, in cupboards or under sinks.
- Grease smudges or smears caused by mouse fur brushing against walls, floors and skirting on regular routes. You may find dark smears around holes or around corners.
- Nests: mice use easy to shred materials, such as newspaper and fabrics, together with other soft materials to line their nest. Nests will often contain young mice.
- Tracks and footprints can show up in dusty environments such as unused lofts and basements.
- Strong smell: mice urinate frequently and their urine has a strong ammonia-like smell. The smell may be very strong near the main site of activity or in enclosed spaces. This smell can linger for a long time (even after an mouse infestation has been removed).
Q: What made you decide to call Rentokil – rather than one of the other pest control companies out there?
I rang a few pest control companies to get an idea of the cost and to learn more about how the process worked. Rentokil was one of the companies I called because you’re one of our clients and I wanted to see how your cost and service compared to the other companies I called.
Q: What made you choose Rentokil?
The lady I spoke to from the call centre was knowledgeable and patient as I asked a lot of questions – especially as I have an older dog and didn’t want her to be affected as a result of the pest control service.
She explained the entire process, exactly what the service covered, and how much it would cost. She also explained what I could expect in terms of receiving the quote and what the next steps were. She was so clear and thorough that I decided to go with Rentokil because my call centre experience was so positive.
The follow-up email with the quote arrived as expected and then the booking of the call-out was effortless and all happened with no fuss.
Q: What was our technician like?
Your technician arrived on the date and at the time he was scheduled, after calling to let me know he was on the way. He was so approachable and very willing to teach me all about my mouse problem.
He took his time going through the house and showed me exactly what to look for and where I should be looking for mouse activity in the house, especially in the kitchen. He explained how the traps worked, where the best place to put them was, and what I could expect afterwards if they had worked.
He also patiently explained the types and strengths of poison and was clear in showing me which type he was using because of our dog. When he came out for the follow-up call he added 2 more traps to be sure that I was covered properly.
Q: Was the treatment successful?
As far as I can tell it was successful as there has been no further mouse activity in the house or kitchen – and I never heard the mouse again either. I didn’t find any dead mice so I left the traps in place as a safety net and strangely enough, found a dead mouse this morning in the garage near one of the traps. So yes, I’d say it was successful. It’s been 9 months since the traps were placed, and only one mouse!
Q: Would you recommend Rentokil?
I would definitely recommend Rentokil. The service has solved my problem as far as I can tell, so I know it works. The main reason though is that the staff were all so knowledgeable and so professional – right from the first call to the call centre, through to the initial and follow up calls by the technician.
