PRESS RELEASE 24 February 2021: Rentokil Initial plc marks ten years of support for the campaign to make malaria no more by proudly supporting the Draw The Line Against Malaria campaign and launching a new global Rentokil Initial event to raise funds for this vital life-saving cause.
The Draw The Line Against Malaria campaign, created by dentsu international, is fronted by a team of change-makers coming together to inspire young people from across the African continent and the globe to call on their leaders and push for action to end malaria within a generation.
The campaign reflects the energy, talent, and cultural influence emanating from the African continent with references to art, fashion, music, sport, and entertainment. It’s brought to life through a powerful film highlighting young people taking charge of their lives and refusing to allow malaria to steal their futures. See link below.
Launching exactly four months ahead of the Kigali Summit on Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases, being held on the eve of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Kigali, Rwanda on 24th June, the campaign is designed to drive momentum in the run up to the critical heads of government meeting.
To ensure this important message is heard around the world, Rentokil Initial will be using its global footprint, large employee base and digital platforms to raise awareness of the campaign and has provided financial support. In Africa, activities include re-branding its vehicles to feature the unique visual identity of the campaign.
At the heart of the campaign and film is a fresh new universal visual language made up of lines, symbols, and patterns, called the ‘Muundo’. Rentokil Initial colleagues and people around the world are adding their own unique “line” of support to a growing piece of crowd-sourced artwork. This collective message representing a visual call to action will be delivered to world leaders at the Malaria and NTD Summit on 24 June 2021 on the eve of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Kigali, Rwanda.
Rentokil Initial’s ‘Race to Kigali’ brings together 2,000 colleagues to undertake a 9,000km virtual Race to Kigali (the distance between Rentokil Initial HQ and Kigali). 100 teams are taking part from across Rentokil Initial including America, Latin America, Australia, Asia, Europe, the UK, the Middle East, Caribbean, Africa, and head office teams. There is also a Board of Directors team with the Chairman, CEO and Board of Directors joining colleagues from around the world. By combining the efforts of colleagues walking, running, or cycling, each team will reach the distance to Kigali by the UN’s World Malaria Day on 25 April 2021.
