Our most recent blog post is a myRentokil case study on how a fast food retailer passed their audits with myRentokil level 5 digital pest control solutions.
In this case study, we’ll dive into the history of a well-known, national fast-food retailer with whom Rentokil has had a good relationship for a few years now, and how this customer’s audit requirements and standards have changed over the course of a few years, and how we were able to assist them with these changing requirements with our myRentokil level 5 digital pest control solution.
Digital pest control – myRentokil Levels
myRentokil is a system that is designed to manage your audit requirements and pest control data comprehensively.
But before we continue, a little bit of background on the 2 ‘levels’ relevant to this case study is probably helpful: myRentokil Lite and myRentokil Standard. The table below gives you an idea of the differences between the two versions of our online offering.
Our customer case study: some background
This national fast food retailer chose Rentokil Initial to be their provider for both Pest Control and Hygiene services in 2015; a decision that was made based on our innovative products and our commitment to strong national standards of service across South Africa.
At this stage all that was required from an audit perspective was an internal audit standard that needed to be adhered to, thus the client opted for myRentokil Lite due to the low complexity of the internal audit requirements. The customer enjoyed many years of passing audits and a strong partnership with Rentokil Initial.
The evolving situation:
Safety regulations for food preparation and production are getting more and more stringent every year, in order to protect consumers and ensure that businesses remain responsible for the products and services they provide.
Our customer started to find that the audit requirements were getting stricter as they began to grow their footprint and reach, and the requirements of their suppliers and customers also began to increase. The fast food retailer now had to also undergo external audits which required a full audit trail – including pest history of products, locations, site maps, and trend analytics.
Failed audits
Unfortunately, the fast food retailer began to suffer failed audits and excessive findings on pest control concerns – based on the lack of data available in the myRentokil Lite profile. Lack of service was never the issue, but the lack of available information and detail was where the bulk of the non-conformances were stemming from.
The final straw occurred during this past audit session, where an auditor asked for a full preparation report and details of certain bait stations which were on one of the premises. The fast food retailer was unable to get the history of the products on site and thus unfortunately failed that audit.
Moving forward – ensuring passed audits
The fast food retailer approached Rentokil and discussed the issue at hand. Collaboratively we were able to find a way forward on the audit requirements and the level of reporting needed to ensure that failed audits are a thing of the past. This entailed the implementation of myRentokil Standard.
Implementation of myRentokil Standard required that all sites nationwide were re-surveyed, and a detailed site map (that indicates where each product or detector is placed on site) is created.
This is imperative because site maps allow us to see which sites are experiencing higher levels of infestation and we can therefore allocate more resources to those sites. In addition, each product on site requires a barcode so that a history can be allocated to those products as our technician’s service and scan them, and then input their findings into the myRentokil system.
Reporting on myRentokil Standard
From this point forward the reporting on the myRentokil system becomes more detailed. Trend analyses of pest activities can now be made, and there are more analytics that can be found on the reporting tab on myRentokil Standard, such as recommendations, pest location analytics, and so much more.
The national fast food retailer has been able to continue to enjoy a strong partnership with Rentokil, and are passing their stricter audits. Rentokil enjoys being able to have these collaborative partnerships where we are also able to assist our customers to grow their businesses.
When you meet with us, tell us about your goals and where you want to be in the future so that we can offer a solution that will help you meet those goals, and ensure that you can meet your audit standards in the future.
